General Information
The Reason for our Existence
The need among Baptists is to declare our distinctive
principles. We need to emphasize over and again those
doctrines and practices which distinguish us from other religions
and denominations, and which warrant our existence.
We have nearly lost our identity in a
maze of compromise, and sadly, many no longer feel the importance of
our mission and commission. Many no longer feel that we
possess the truth and are responsible to take that truth into all
the world. All too often our voice has been softened so it
blends with the chorus of "accepted religion" and that
which is "politically correct." In striving for
success (numbers), we have compromised our distinctive principles
and identifying doctrines.
Just as it is essential that Baptist
preachers and churches stand forth and identify themselves, so it is
with Bible schools and colleges.
Here at the Grace Baptist Bible
Institute, we emphasize the distinctive Baptist doctrines.
We emphasize all the basic fundamental doctrines
of God's Word (using the King James Version only) - the plenary
verbal inspiration of the Scriptures; the one true God; Christ, the
incarnate Word of God and only Savior; the Holy Spirit, the Third
Person of the Trinity; man; sin; Satan; heaven; hell; the second
coming of Christ. We also emphasize the distinctive Baptist
doctrines of salvation by grace alone, the eternal security of the
saved soul, the local church (the only kind of church of which the
Scripture informs us), Baptist baptism, closed communion, and the
independency of each church, which is responsible only to the
membership and to God.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to train God-called preachers, pastors, evangelists,
missionaries, Sunday school teachers, and others in the Word of God
and to send them forth to win the lost, to establish and build real
Baptist churches, which in turn win, baptize and teach.
Emphasis will not only be given to
intensive classroom study, but also to practical training in winning
the lost and building churches.
